Airfilter DIY xbar removal/put back process

when putting the xbar back in place, are there any pre-cautions that i would need to take other than putting the 4 bolts/nuts combo back in place ? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Use torque wrench.

No, not really... Just put it back together.

You can use a torque wrench if you have one available to you, but the torque on this component is not critical (like say a cylinder head bolt or a brake caliper). Torque is based on the size of the fastener... I don't know what size it is, but if you want to get it perfect, you can figure out the size of the bolt and nut, and then research what the right torque should be for that size fastener.

OR... If you know your way around a wrench, just tighten it good and tight and be done with it.

Thank you ver much

for the prompt replies. Some say yes, some say no....but, is it possible at all to remove the filter housing w/o un-bolting the xbar ? I called the MB dealership today and according to the service advisor, you won't have to remove the xbar. He says, it slides out. Also, does the xbar have to be fastened while the front suspension is either in tension or compression ? i.e. is it adjustable ?

I have removed the filter housing on the V8 motor without removing the xbar. But in my scenario I had to disconnect the cable to the senor that blocks the filter. this is removed by sliding the lever and unpluging it very carefully. move the wire out of filter housing path and slide it right out. good luck.

No adjustment. When I had mine off and put it back there was no change and the bolt holes are not big enough to allow any adjustment. Driving the vehicle WITHOUT the cross bar is NOT advised (makes the front end too flexible).
