Help! GL450 Drops Calls!
The problem, I can not leave the car with out dropping a call.
Here is how it happens:
1) I'm talking on the phone over bluetooth
2) I stop the car
3) Switch to the handset (on the phone), turning off the car mic and speakers
4) I shut off the car
5) open and close the dirver door, and the call drops
Help! Is there any solution to this - my other cars do not have this problem! I have the same problem with an iphone3G and a blackberry curve.

do you have the bluetooth dongle in the center console? I cant remember if the GL has the updated command. If so try disconnecting it from the dock before leaving the car. I haven't tried it myself, but it might be a work around.

On my blackberry, prior to turning off the car, I manually go into the blackberry and disconnect the bluetooth connection (not disable the bluetooth) which by default routes the sound/mic back to the phone itself...then turn off the car and walk away still on the call.
Not sure in your description how you are doing the transition, but perhaps try disconnecting the bluetooth connection....under the blackberry in the bluetooth setup, you click the menu button while highlighting the paired device.

I have an '07 which has a slightly different COMAND setup... But...
Is the procedure that you are following what is recommended by the COMAND Owner's Manual?

Sounds like you are doing it right. If you disconnected/switch over to headset prior to leaving the car, then it should just transfer over. Might want to swing by the dealer and have them take a look.

Dropping Calls.
I have a 3g iphone and the same thing. On the iphone as soon as I get out of the car while on a call I hit the home button on the phone and tap Audio Source. Your choices will be MB bluetooth(or something similiar), iPhone or speaker phone. what is happening is the bluetooth has not disconnected from the car unless your choose iPhone from the audio source screen on the phone.
I have locked my car and gone into my house (still in bluetooth range) and tried to make a call and my bluetooth is still connected (blue indicator on the phone) minutes after exiting the vehicle.
You will just have to play the game and get used to it.
Just yesterday I was in the service drive of the MB dealer ,car off ,standing outside of the car. A call came in. I felt it vibrate and had to select audio source on the phone before I could talk.

So..I am on a call thru bluetooth - I switch to the handset (turn bluetooth off via iphone) I'm talking on the handset. I turn off the car (still talking on hand set) and the minute I open the car door my call is dropped.
According to the MB technical information "once the car is shut off, the call will disconnect because the phone is paired with the vehicle".
Even though I've turned off bluetooth
UGH I am so upset - do they think this is a feature????

Here is what I do every time and have never dropped a call. While car is running but in park, disconnect bluetooth on your phone so it drops the MB bluetooth puck. Shut car off. Do not touch anything on the command. Get out and you will keep your conversation.
You can continue the conversation all the way back in the car. Start car and your bluetooth will pick-up. You will not hear the person on the other enx for around 10 seconds while it tranfers the call through to your command. When it transfers, you will be able to talk through the bluetooth and go about your way handsfree.
I do both scenarios every day and have never dropped a call or had any issues.

I have an '09 GL450 - is the bluetooth "puck" integrated?
So.. I shut bluetooth off, change source to phone, shut the car off (still talking on phone). The minute I open the door the call is dropped.
Sounds lke I need to go into the dealership and have it looked at. If anyone has had this issue please please let me know! Thank you all so much

"I love new NAV, only problem so far I find, when i am on call through bluetooth, if i turn off the car and open the door it will drop the call, it didn't do it on my 2008 G35. that is only -ive."
I hope there is a solution!!!!!

I have an ATT Fuze and the bluetooth puck. Phone actually stays connected after I shut off car. Process I follow is in the menu screen of the phone, I turn off hands free. This takes the phone off the car system and allows me to walk away and keep talking. Funny thing is if I forget to do this and start walking away, bluetooth is still working and I can hear caller in car!

Thanks so much for your help. I def have a prob with the car. I've been turning off bluetooth via the phone menu so I am actually talking on the phone - car is off, my call is still connected - but the minute I open the car door, the call is dropped. I follow this same procedure with the BMW and the Acura and do not have this problem.

It sounds to me like the integrated is different than those who have an 07-08 MY. I have an 07 and have been through a few phones (Razr, Storm) and have never had this problem. It sounds to me like it's a feature of the 09 integrated bluetooth.

I really hope MB doesn not consider this a "feature". I was shocked when the online help suggested I finish all my calls in the car. YIKES. I'm going into the dealership soon and hopefully will get it fixed.

I have an 08 GL 320 CDI with the blue tooth puck and when leaving the car while talking, I just hold the phone button on the command system for about 3 seconds and it disconnects from the phone and I continue talking. Don't know if it works that way on the new 09 command though. Good luck.
