Transmission Wouldn't Shift

Now its stuck in 1st gear. Check engine light came on. The mechanic is saying its not the Transmission sensor or throttle valve, but solenoid.
Can someone help me I have spent over $2500 , on this
Based on this thread I'm going to pull out my extended warranty to ensure I'm covered, but is there going to be a code? Or do I need to guide my indy on next steps?
My truck went to the detailer yesterday working perfectly fine but after he finished the job, the vehicle wouldn't go into reverse now. It will go into park, neutral, and drive without issue but reverse won't register like it's even being hit. I don't have any errors on the screen. He did say he had to move the steering cluster all the way in/out to clean it and then when he tried to back it out, it wouldn't go into reverse. He then moved the steering wheel out a little further (electronically) and tried again and it went into reverse. By the time I got there though it wouldn't move into reverse in any of the 100 different positions I tried moving the steering column to.
Could this be an issue with the stalk since it won't even register? Were people here able to get the truck to highlight R like you are in reverse but it just wouldn't go into reverse or does it even move the selector on the screen to R?
Any thoughts?
if screen registers gear change, but tranny doesnt engage as needed it is usually the gear selector solenoid in the tranny.
both scenarios are easily confirmed via star/das which has specific test cases for both failures.
gear selector failures are not common and usually denote previous abuse.
solenoid failures are somewhat common, but an easy replacement.
It makes me wonder if while cleaning they somehow sprayed moisture at the base of the stalk or something and it messed with the contacts until it dried up? Regardless, things seem to be working ok for now. It appears it is time to trade the vehicle in as I don't want to take any more chances.
Anyway, a big 'Thank You' to all of you.

Hope this helps.
