Extended warranty on 09 GL320 Bluetec
I am picking up my 09 GL320 Bluetec tomorrow. I am considering the extended warranty as I plan on keeping it longer than the 4 years on the original. I am considering the 7/100k one.
I have negotiated a discount on it from 5160 to 4658 but wonder it should be discounted greater. I did get what I feel was a good buy on the car at about 14K below sticker.
Can anyone give me their take on this. I have read the other threads but not much with respect to this car and this situation.
Thanks

Just a thought:
If you can buy an extended warranty later....like say just before the original warranty expires, it would be a better value for you than buying it now. If you pay for the extended warranty now and finance it with the car, you will actually be paying a much larger dollar amount for the warranty including interest.
Also, even though you plan on keeping it for a long time now, you never know what may change in the future. There could be many scenarios in which you may not keep the car past 4 years, in which case, you would have wasted a lot of money on the extened warranty.
just a thought.

I was about to start a similar thread but not necessarily on bluetec.
This is what I was told when I recently bought mine. You can buy the mercedes extended warranty within 30 days of buying the new car. After that you can buy it within the first year, but there is a price increase (slight). After that you cannot buy the Mercedes extended warranty, it would be some aftermarket warranty, even if it is from the dealer.
btw, what is the dealer cost for a GL450 for extended warranty?
Also, do you have to buy this extended Mercedes warranty from the same dealer you bought your car? The reason i ask was i happen to be on another forum disussing deals about warranty, specifically Toyota. It turns out that with Toyota, you don't have to buy the warranty from the dealer you bought it from, and there was some dealer offering the warranty at about half the price. Perhaps we can get a disussion going on what is the best deal you have gotten on a warranty for your MB and people can either negotiate from that or call one of these dealers and buy from them.

You can buy the MB extended warranty from any authorized MB dealer. There has been lots of discussion (other threads) about the MB dealer in Chico CA giving good deals on these warranties. The finance person there is Lisa.

I just bought my 2009 Bluetec, and of course the dealer pressured me about the wty. I declined with the intention of buying one later on. It's my intent to keep this car for 8+ years. That's how long I kept the minivan (143+K miles) which the Bluetec replaced.

I worked at a shop and we did alot of warranty work, independent warranties do pay out well on claims...
check out WarrantyReports.com, you can find some helpful tools to find an aftermarket warranty that may end up costly less then dealer/manufacturer.
