Command Question

I just bought 2009 GL320. According to the manual there should audio fadeout option during navigation announcement. It should be under NAVI option, but for whatever reason my car does not have it. Anyone else experienced similar problem?

Thanks

there was a similar post on another 2009 model board recently which stated the dealer would have to run a software update in order for this to be visible on COMAND. Might try searching for it, or call your dealer and inquire.

Talked to the dealer and they are clueless. My friend just purchased '10 ML350 and he has that feature.

hmm..I cant verify the accuracy of the person who posted it, but sounded like he knew what he was talking about <?> ... I havent checked with my dealer yet.

What's weird is that your '09 manual shows this feature. My '09 GL manual doesn't show it.

If you look at command operator's manual, page 52, under "Menu Overview" there is "Switching Audio Fade Out on/off".

You are right - good eye. Also couldn't find anything else in the manual that expanded on this and also dont have it on my actual NAV menu. I guess MB put the cart before the horse and printed it in the manual even though it wasn't available yet on their software. I'm going to bring it up with my dealer next time I'm in, it sure would be nice to have.

I spoke with MBUSA product adviser, and he said it is not available on '09 GL. He was not aware if there is any software update for this, most likely not. After I mentioned that '10 ML has it, he consulted with the engineer and engineer said, even though command system in ML looks the same it is different system. But honestly who knows, I doubt software update cannot be performed.

I had to try it out on my GL550 after reading this theard.

And let me say that my audio does fade out when ever Nav comes out for instructions.
I hope this helps.

oh and I didn't find the option to turn it on or off.....It seems to do it automatically for me but I am able to change the volum when the Nav is speaking.
