GL550 Trailer Hitch Package - what comes with it
Hi all.
I bought the GL550 with a factory hitch. Is it supposed to come with a electrical plug that you plug your trailer wires to and then that plugs into the the fixed electrical outlet under the bumper? I have an escalade and it is configured that way. For some reason the dealer is unsure what I mean? The owners manual seems to indicate that it comes with an additional wire harness.
thanks
Dan

I am not sure I completely understand the question, but if your GL came with the factory installed hitch package it comes with the hitch and the 7 pin/pole connector (which is under the bumper as you say). This is what you plug your trailer wiring connectors to. Are you referring to a converter from the 7 pin (from the GL) to a 4 or 5 pin connector (on the trailer)? Is so, no it does not come with that. Otherwise I am confused on this other wiring harness you are referring to unless it is for a trailer brake controller which is also does not come with. Hope this helps........

Trailer brake CONTROLLER wires are in place under the dash, but without a matching connector to attach to the controller. You supply your own, buy a plug and wire stubs from the parts dept, and / or 'hard wire' your controller to the factory wiring.
