2009 gl550 premium leather question
i tried searching the forums for the premium leather option and couldn't find much.
my question is... w/ the premium leather option... do you get the wood/leather steering wheel as part of that package?

Just picked mine up today...has the premium leather and the heating package which includes full leather steering wheel with heat element. Also leather shift knob.

Question...is this "premium leather" what used to be called "Nappa Leather" a few years back? I have "full leather" instead of tex in my 07, but obviously the 550 already had real leather, so wondering what the premium would offer and would assume it may be the Nappa (unless it's that the seat sides and such are also leather as opposed to simply the seat backs and bottoms)...

it is definitely is much softer leather than the standard 550's, but i also found it to be a bit more slippery than the standard leather.
overall i didn't think it was worth the extra 2k in price

wood steering wheel is standard or no cost option on gl550, unless you got the heating package (which i believe is a no cost option on gl550 as well) which gives you a heated leather steering wheel. You cannot get heated leather/wood steering wheel.
go price one out on MBUSA or carsdirect and you will see.

Premium leather & heated steering wheel
I have an 09 GL550 and it has the premium leather in ash. soft as ever leather including sides of seats. It also came with the leather heated steering as N/C but seems to have been an option. You can go online at mbusa.com to build a gl550 and see what the options are.
For the guy who paid 63K above for a gl550 that was a great deal!
