New 2010 GL450 price and questions.

Hey guys, our family is looking to buy a new GL to replace our 99 ML430. We dont drive much but need a updated car for the driveway, our ML only has 55k on it.
I have a Lexus IS350 but also need something for the winter months.
I have a few questions. What discounts are people getting on the 450 models? We bought the IS in december and got a huge discount from the end of the year sale. Does MB have the same sale in december? I remember seeing the ADs on tv but i mostly recall great lease deals.

Also I have a few questions about the packages themselves. Do most GL's come with the Prem package 2? Also, how good are the ventilated seats? I have those in my IS and really like them.

On the LED fog lights, how do they work? Ive been reading up on them and seem confused. The quad lights are for the GL's with halogen headlights? Then if you upgrade to the HID you get LED's? Do the LED stay on with the headlights? Do they have a decent amount of light output for the times we do need fog lights?

On the Navi, im guessing it dosent have traffic updates since I dont see it listed on the MB site. Is the navi difficult to use? On the IS its all touchscreen and easy to use. Is it much more difficult with the control buttons?

Thanks in advance.

I hate threads with no photos so heres a few photos of what im driving now.

In the past few years Mercedes has consistently had a "December Sales Event."

The LEDs are NOT intended to be foglights but rather are DRLs. (daytime running lights)

On the halogen-equipped cars, one light is DRL and the other is a foglight.

Apparently the thinking is foglights are not required with HID lighting.

Go the http://www.mbusa.com to "build your own."

A lot of your questions are answered already in the forum.

NAV does have traffic and is not touch screen. Looks like you got an 08 IS which does not have the updated NAV, so you will be in for an upgrade.

Also, on the 2010 GL the COMAND is an updated hybrid of the one found on the W221 S-class, without the controller. But the buttons used to navigate it are intuitive enough - and the functionality is far superior to the last gen COMAND I had on the '08 E63.

As Kar Don said, it does have traffic - I think it's part of the SIRIUS system but I have it on my GL450.

I leased but my negotiated price was at dealer invoice price less a few bucks - the dealer paid for 2 months of my lease on top of the 5 months the MB Financial pulled forward to the calculation is a bit convoluted. If I didn't have to work in the 2 remaining payments from the E63, the monthly lease payment would be even better.

I like the Lighting Pkg with the HID and the LED daytime running lights, but don't mind the quad lights either but I wanted the xenon headlights.

And my car has the P2, which was not something I was willing to forgo.

I think every chassis subforum should have a stickied thread detailing the differences between each model year, ie 2007 vs. 2008 vs. 2009 vs. 2010, in other waords for each year, what it adds and and what was taken away, interior and exterior.

I almost bought a 2008 pre-owned thinking it was a good deal. I went to the dealer to find out the differences between the years and found out the upgraded Navigation/multimedia system (which sounded like a must have for me) was added in 2009. I knew then i would settle nothing less than a 2009, but the additions in a 2010 did not justify going that route FOR ME. Luckily for me, the factory to dealer incentives for 2009 in August, made the price difference between a new 2009 and preowned 2008 very little, and the decision was easy.

point is we get these questions all the time, why not start a stickied thread detailing the differences between the years, as minor as it can be.
