New Nav Disc for 2007-2008 Models

Note on Navteq site there's a new Nav disc dated Oct 2009 for 2007-2008 models.

Anyone got one yet?

OK it is available but if I get it will that fix my issue that the altimeter reading almost always reads about 200 ft lower than the actual road elevation (six or more satellites 'in view')? At low elevations it does not read negative however. Dealer says nothing is wrong when they test it
I think I'd be better off getting a Garmin

I believe you'll find the altimeter is about as accurate as the compass. If you look at the compass, it only reads 8 cardinals, never the actual direction. As for the altitude, I think it jumps in certain increments as well.

You are almost always better off with an aftermarket system when it comes to things like precision and so forth; the Garmin doesn't have to integrate in to your vehicle's system, tune local and/or satellite radio, and (in most cases) connect with your phone (though it can - it's usually a weak connection with a horrid speaker and barely fair microphone). At least that's how I look at it!

I agree that the altimeter only reads to to 100 ft intervals, never more precise. That is not the issue. It is just not right that Mercedes should allow the error in altitude to be more than the degree of precision displayed. When I go over a mountain pass, the altimeter always shows 200 (or more) feet less than the pass altitude on the sign. Not critical to the drive, but not a class act either!

I ordered my new NAV disc last week & got it on Tuesday of this week. A big improvement over the 2007 - 2008 disc I had. The building I work in was built in 1998 but the old disc didn't recognize the address (or any address for that matter) on the street I work on. The new disc recognizes the address. The old disc also said my house was in a gated area & I'd need access (I don't live in a gated area) and the new one doesn't say that anymore.

I haven't had the opportunity to use it that much this week, but at least where I work is in there now.

I'm not 'clear' just how the IR glass interferes with the Garmin. As far as I know, the satellites broadcast on non IR frequencies and the glass should be transparent to those frequencies. Perhaps I should 'try before I buy' though.

Interested to hear if this update is worth purchasing. We still are using the 2007 version. Seems pricey for an update. Thanks!

Updates have been this price for years.

You can check on the navteq website (navteq.com) to see what parts of the country have been updated.
