'08 SL55
Still love the GL
My '07 GL450 hit 50000 miles on the way home tonight. Car has been rock solid.
Problems so far: 1. driver's side temp dial didn't always work right. I'd turn it clockwise and the LED would stay put. Fixed under warranty. 2. Driver's side vent handle broke, replaced under warranty.
I've done all my maintenance at Mercedes of Escondido (North County San Diego). They have been great. I think the costs are a bit high but the car has been perfect so worth it. New tires at 30000. Brakes at 40000.
Overall, great car. So quiet, nice power. 20.6 MPG on the way home from LA averaging 80+.
Gripes: brake pedal too mushy (especially after driving the SL). Subwoofer too wimpy. Wish the second row seat would power fold like the third. COMAND way behind the times. They need to let Apple design the next one.
I make it a rule to avoid owning cars outside the warranty. This time, I like the car so much, I purchased the extended warranty from MB. 7/100 total. Cost was 5K but gives me a certain level of comfort.
