I'm keeping the air suspension. I want the auto leveling as we tow and often take trips well loaded.

Dealer replaced on our 2007 GL450 - left front corner. I am glad we have extended warranty. Left front air strut was leaking. I would not mind going strutmasters when it goes out next time. I really don't use the ride height option anyways. Currently odometer is reading 80K miles. Couple more months of extended warranty. After that it is will be coming out of my pocket.

I just noticed this thread - the right rear on mine is leaking. I took it to the stealership so they could fix a couple things + replace the airbag. Apparently these things are on back-order.

Is this particularly common in the Gls?

They said they would call when they receive the airbag, and thankfully it'll be covered under ext. warranty, but I hope mine doesn't blow out in the meantime! It's been a couple weeks...oof...

alignment needed after strut replacement?

Is a wheel alignment needed after shock or struts replacement for GL?

GL 320 CDI
Hi guys,

My driver side (right, as I am in Australia) when BOOM last Saturday

My mechanic want me to buy the whole suspension shock (not just the air bag) as he thinks he thinks he has no special tools just to change the air bag.

Since ALL Australian GL comes with the "Pro Off Road Kit", which shock should I be buying? The one with ADS, or without

(I have no idea what ADS mean )

Wonky air suspension

When I am driving the air ride will drop in the front, and some time later will re inflate. Sometimes when I park overnight the left front will deflate an d some times both fronts will and other times neither will until I touch the door handle and then I will hear air escape, not leak.
Any ideas

R350
Have you replaced the air springs yet? They are "wear" parts, I've replaced 8 air springs between my two 2008 Mercedes. I did the R350 myself, and used my indy for our GL. I bought the parts from Arnott both times.

If you drive the vehicle too long with leaky air springs, you risk overworking and possibly ruining the air compressor.

This is a pretty straight forward issue, and is expected to happen between 75k and 100k miles.

Same happened to me, I replace the front bags and 4 months later the rear did the same. I replace them all. I purchased directly from Arnott, as they supply a lifetime warranty, all other third party sales do not offer the same, in fact, one airbag in the rear failed and Arnott did replace it at no charge one year later.
I did the work myself, was nothing special. Arnott has a youtube video as to how to change the air bags.
The total cost was about $1100.00 U$ dollars in parts, taxes and delivery.

Inexpensive Airbag Replacement

I purchased my replacements here and my mechanic is $50 per hour to replace at 90 minutes or less per air bag.
