Questions on GL450
Hi, I just bought 2007 GL450. I'm in love with the looks. I got it for $41,995. I"m in the Northern VA, close to DC. Do you think I paid too much? Here what it comes with.
44K Miles, CPO, Certified 100,000 miles, Blk on Blk interior, Nav, Crome running board,Crome Hatch, Dual DVD systems, Dual Sunroof, Harmon sound, 6 CD changers, 20in tires, SOS service,
The only thing i'm missing is the keyless and backup camera.
Do you think I should get the backup camera installed? How much? Is it that great of an SUV.
HELP!

GL question
NOw that you have bought it I don't want to make you feel bad, enjoy it, it is a great vehicle. If I were you, YES the backup camera is a must. You can probably get it for well under $500. Call midcitiyengineering in chicago

yea, since you already bought it there is no point of looking back. If you are curious, here is yahoo's national listings for Gls, 07 models average high $20 to high $40s. These are asking prices, discounting them 5%-10% should give you an estimate of true selling price.
As for rearview camera, if its not factory ordered and installed, IMO do not bother with it. 3rd party installers will rip the interior apart to wire it. Lot of those interior panels and fabric are held together by plastic clips, which are meant to be snapped in once. As a result installers can put things back but not as tight as factory.
I had my BMW wired for aftermarket electronic stuff by 3rd party installer a few years ago. And after a year some interior felt loose. You can keep going back to the installer and have them address the problem, but IMO the car was permenantly damaged by being torn apart and no matter how much they reassure you it will never feel the same.
So don't do it. That's why even MB dealers won't attempt to do rearvew cam after the factory, for good reasons.

2004 RX330, 2008 Scion xB, 2001 Honda Insight Hybrid, 2010 Toyot Prius v ATP
My wife's (much smaller) RX330 has the reverse camera and I can say I have used it maybe twice (the camera, not the truck - I use that all the time). It's a 2004. I have thought about the camera on the GL but I just don't think I'd use it that much. Even backing up to my trailer (and I use that term loosely) I can close enough to dead on center and distance to only ever need minor adjustments. Mid City can put it in for you but if your COMAND isn't pre-programmed or your truck's not pre-wired, it becomes a major undertaking that is, IMHO, just not worth it.

We bought our 2007 GL450 CPO in April and I specifically (after asking info on here about retrofitting a backup camera) sought out a vehicle that had the backup camera. We lucked out and found one that also has Keyless GO, which my wife loves! Congrats on the purchase!

It is always a good idea to buy one with the options pre-loaded. I've had choice to save couple hundreds and give up on some options but I chose not to. Mine came with 34k miles, leather pkg, p1 pkg, appearance pkg, RES pkg, keyless go, rearview camera, Voice control and leather steering.
