Just bite the bullet and have it done correctly. There are shops that specialize in this repair and I have found them to be very reasonable.

I would think a filler and some blending might run you $150-$200. Like BlownV8 said, just have a pro do it.

The problem is that the minimum charge at MBZ Calabasas (Which is the only one who fixes these kinds of scratches) is $350, which I don't feel I should pay for fixing a few minor scratches. Has anyone had any luck with the Touch up paint? Even when I took it to the dealer, they told me to buy the touch up kit and save my money. Has anyone had luck with this?

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
Bring the car's VIN to the dealership. Apparently, there are several shades of Silver that MB uses.

Turn your tailgate limiter to ON via multifunction display.

Ther are many touch up paint guys that work out of the truck, the dealers use them all the time for touch up. I had my other benz done and had no problems after 5 years, silver is hard to blend. Its not too much, just call a couple dealers to see who they use.

I agree that's a lot BUT if you want it done right AND it's something that really bothers you, then pay it and get it done right. Otherwise.... you can get the touch up paint and color over the scratches and that will be that. Yes, you will know that the surface is flawed at that point BUT if your are not married to the vehicle and know you will be trading in the next few years .... it really will not matter much! On the other hand... I would do whatever was necessary to repair such on my Vette which I AM married to!!

Not perfect, but this is what i did to a few tailgate and bumper scratches...

1) Cleaned with dawn and water mix (after most steps below)
2) Meguiars Scratch X 2.0
3) Touch up paint over the remaining scratch
4) left it for 2 weeks
5) Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 gently over the touched up area until flush
6) 5 coats of Klasse SG over 3 weeks

Unless you are looking for the scratch you won't see it. I'm sure there must be some kind of clearcoat touchup that would have improved on this, but i don't know what that product may be.

Unhappy

I personally wouldn't use touch up paint on my GL. If it is that bad, I would take it only to a Mercedes certified shop. I was surprised to find that their rates were reasonable. I would however start with Maguire's ScratchX if you are not down to the primer. I had one on my liftgate that ran from one side to the other courtesy of the local Mercedes service dept. I used progressively Maguire's ScratchX, SwirlX, Polish, and then Tech Wax. It is now pretty much unnoticeable. You have to try really hard to see it in the perfect light but it took me at least an hour of work to get it where it is.
