Chrome inserts/panels on rear bumber just below Cargo door. Where to get these?
My GL450 already has the appearance package. However, when I was comparing it side by side to GL550, I noticed that GL550 has a chrome insert on rear bumber andmy 450 does not.
Is this something I can get from my dealer?
Here are the pics of GL550 I found online (first time posting pictures so I am not sure if these will come through):
You should be able to see a chrome panel on the bumper.
Compare to GL450 (no such insert/panel on rear bumper):
Thanks!

Yes you can get that part from your local dealer, and it maybe other dealers on this site that may have them as well. I do know that the price has gone up on these things seeing that allot of 450 owners are doing this mod. I purchased a pre-owned 450 about a week ago, and thats the 1st thing I did, makes the vehicle look allot cleaner from the rear IMO, also mine had the chrome/aluminum pice underneed b the tail pipes like the 550, I see ur doesnt have that.

chrome strip
the M-B part number is 164-880-02-11 for this part and it cost about $230, depending on how "friendly" your local dealer is. Installation is pretty much straight forward.

Installation is NOT so straightforward, as the chrome piece comes with hooks on the bottom side designed to fit into slots in the bumper. You of course don't have the slots.
The forums-standard procedure is to cut the hooks off and use double-sided tape to mount the guard. Get the good stuff--3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape--from a body shop supply place.

Dealerfits com and the installation is easy there are good instructions posted in this forum. Simply pull up the black piece from one end to the other using a rubber body molding removal tool (harbor freight has multiple sizes and shapes - like a rubber putty knife) or a flat head screwdriver with duct tape to not scratch the top of bumper. Then you will have to remove the rubber tips on the chrome piece underside that do not match up to the holes in the bumper top. I followed instructions and used two-sided 3M molding tape to make sure secure. Looks great when done.
