My wife is expensive!

So pulling into the driveway in a hurry, the wifey hits a landscape bolder and cracks the raw finished/grey lower cover. It looks horrible but other than that, it looks really easy to replace by myself.

With that said, do you guys know where the best place for price is to buy the lower cover on a 2008 GL450 with Off Road shields? Its number 28 on this diagram and on the fourth picture arrowed. A MB part number would also be very helpful. Thanks guys!

Wow. I wouldn't care...I couldnt tell that anything was wrong until I saw the zoomed picture. Cars are going to get a little damaged but if you want to replace it, take it to the dealer. They might be able to fix it cheaper than buying a new one, but I am not too sure.

Good luck and dont forget, its just a car.

+1 Our GL has a similar although smaller injury inspite of the Parktronic. I too want to know how much it may cost to replace.

It may be 'only a car' but i don't even like seeing water spots on my cars never mind about a crack or dent!

I don't have the part number, but maybe if you call them they can tell you:

Popo, I actually have to agree. Water spots bug me too.
Anyways, sorry your wife messed up the bottom. Try and live with it though if you can. It will save you money! Even my GL is a 2010 and I have a tailgate scratch thats practically visible from every angle of the rear. You should be proud if this is the first mistake that hurt your car since you have had your car longer than me. Good luck!

I would fix it if I were you. A. It obviously bothers you which is good enough reason by itself. B. You are going to pay for it down the road (at least part of it) when you go to trade/sell. Whoever you sell it to is going to want that fixed and it would be a shame for you to drive a damaged car for several years and then pay to fix it before/when you sell.

Primepartssuperstore.com will have it but I wouldn't know what parts or clips you'll need to complete the job. Maybe try calling. Good luck.

Part Numbers

You can sign up at http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/
and view the same diagrams but with part numbers. The navigation is a little tricky but once you get the hang of it, it's OK.

have you tried using a plunger and duct tape? Might be cheaper than replacing the whole piece
