2010 incentive?

Rebate on 2010
+1
My lease on my current GL is coming to an end and they are much more expensive compared to when I got my last lease. The best deal I have found is $2,000 total down and $985 per month, or $8,000 total down and $805, for a $69,000 car. Those numbers are with a $4,000 discount. In my view, just too much money! Of course, a healthy rebate would change all of this.

I think MBUSA is being very careful not to have any 2010 leftovers. They have the 2011 GL450 on their online configurator, but continue to show 2010 GL350s and 550s.

My wife and I found ourselves in the same sitch as the Stuboat.
Our Sitch
- 39 mo. lease up on July 11 on GL450
- 2010 GL350 arrived with reparable body damage and options (rear heated seats & chrome cross bars) we didn't order
- though the cost of the car was about $3000 more, the cost of the lease rose more than that factor
What We Learned
- lease went up because the residual dropped and money factor rose
- also the lease acquisition rose to $1095
- MB Financial will extend your lease for 3 mos as a courtesy if you have another car on order (we provided them with our new PO#)
- one cannot take the alternative fuel tax credit or the new vehicle tax credit (if they bring it back), unless your purchase the car; the dealer can take if you lease, some say you can try to negotiate to go half way on these incentives, but we've never done it personally
- we may purchase the car and keep it for 6+ years with Total Protection and a 3rd party extended service contract (too many chips and wiring)
- wish we had joined the MB Club of America 18 months ago
We'll wait until the August incentives are released. We may try to deal on the purchase of a 2010 or lease the 2011.

2011 BMW X5d, 2011 Nissan Leaf and Kubota L39 Tractor!
The lease aquisition fee is still $795. Your dealer is marking it up $300 which is the max MB finanical will let them. You can push back on this.

I've heard this. I've actually asked to two MB Financial CS agents what their lease acquisition fee is and they will not answer the question. They defer, then refer you to the dealer with whom you're working. Thanks for pointing this out.

If you look at the deals MB runs in newspapers and on their website, the fee is always listed at the $795 number. My dealer also tried to mark it up $300. Told me that was their house rule. They backed off when I told them I'd walk over it. They also tried to stick me with a $29 optional fee for electronic registration. One would think that an MB dealer would not try and nickel and dime their customers. But they're just as bad as every other dealer.

My experience in looking at getting a vehicle from spring 2008 until deciding on one in May 2009 was that the later it got into the summer, the better things got. Overall dealer supply will affect things and this is either regional or national. I wouldn't worry about incentives drying up on August 2nd as there are almost always individual model incentives. Loan rates and MF should be dirt-cheap now so only declining residual on 2010 can hurt you. If you aren't talking to multiple dealers over a 2-3 state area then you are doing yourself a disservice...

Not Many 2010 GL 450s left
I just got a 2011 but I looked first for a 2010. There weren't any available anywhere in the country with the color combination I wanted with the equipment I wanted. There were some with more equipment. My guess is there is NOT going to be a rebate but they keep the money factor low.

Yep, Stu. That's our issue too. Couldn't find a GL350 in the color we wanted with 3-zone air except in Virginia (we're in Cali). One way or the other the dealer will attempt to make their margin somewhere. It's good to know where their mark-up is. Charging us a mark-up on the lease acq. will only incent us to finance the car with another company.

But, I asked one of my new neighbors (who is a MB Salesman) and he told me there was about 500 GL's in various inventories within a 800 mile radius from where I live. Maybe there's a incentive in the future?

Just saw in the paper 2010 GL450 with some options and $3000 CCR for $699/month and 10,000 miles per year. Not killer, but it's the first GL ad I've seen so the push is starting...

The dealer offer me $6600 off MSRP FOR THE 2010 GL450. The MSRP is $73275. Is that a good offer. Should I take it or wait until next month?

don't point the finger at others so quickly - you may in-fact be pointing directly at yourself.
if YOU yourself are in-fact giving the services that you provide from day to day to YOUR clients at cost and booking absolutely no revenue (and more importantly profit), I will retract the above statement.
cheers!

lastly, this isn't "nickel and diming"...
it's more like "pennying"
$300 of an avg msrp of $75k = inconsequential for someone such as yourself (i assume)
you'd be better off spending your time writing a letter to Saks or McDonald's for charging at least 200% above their true cost on EVERYDAY purchases
which is worse?

I recently saw a dealer ad in the WSJ that states 10% off 2010 GLs. I suspect this is for 450/550s as many dealerships do not have 350BTs.

On a similar note, if you check the North American sales of GL's over the previous 3 months, the sales have been falling sharply. In May for instance, 1,736 GL's were sold. By contrast, the July figure was 1,179. Those numbers speak for themselves.

My dealer (Park Place Dallas) only has 3-4 2010 GLs listed on their website. And one of them is a Bluetec.
That would not indicate the need for big rebates to me. Heck, they sell Used 2009-2010 GLs for more than what I paid for mine brand new.
