2010 incentive?
My lease on my current GL is coming to an end and they are much more expensive compared to when I got my last lease. The best deal I have found is $2,000 total down and $985 per month, or $8,000 total down and $805, for a $69,000 car. Those numbers are with a $4,000 discount. In my view, just too much money! Of course, a healthy rebate would change all of this.

Our Sitch
- 39 mo. lease up on July 11 on GL450
- 2010 GL350 arrived with reparable body damage and options (rear heated seats & chrome cross bars) we didn't order
- though the cost of the car was about $3000 more, the cost of the lease rose more than that factor
What We Learned
- lease went up because the residual dropped and money factor rose
- also the lease acquisition rose to $1095
- MB Financial will extend your lease for 3 mos as a courtesy if you have another car on order (we provided them with our new PO#)
- one cannot take the alternative fuel tax credit or the new vehicle tax credit (if they bring it back), unless your purchase the car; the dealer can take if you lease, some say you can try to negotiate to go half way on these incentives, but we've never done it personally
- we may purchase the car and keep it for 6+ years with Total Protection and a 3rd party extended service contract (too many chips and wiring)
- wish we had joined the MB Club of America 18 months ago
We'll wait until the August incentives are released. We may try to deal on the purchase of a 2010 or lease the 2011.

But, I asked one of my new neighbors (who is a MB Salesman) and he told me there was about 500 GL's in various inventories within a 800 mile radius from where I live. Maybe there's a incentive in the future?

don't point the finger at others so quickly - you may in-fact be pointing directly at yourself.
if YOU yourself are in-fact giving the services that you provide from day to day to YOUR clients at cost and booking absolutely no revenue (and more importantly profit), I will retract the above statement.
cheers!

it's more like "pennying"
$300 of an avg msrp of $75k = inconsequential for someone such as yourself (i assume)
you'd be better off spending your time writing a letter to Saks or McDonald's for charging at least 200% above their true cost on EVERYDAY purchases
which is worse?
On a similar note, if you check the North American sales of GL's over the previous 3 months, the sales have been falling sharply. In May for instance, 1,736 GL's were sold. By contrast, the July figure was 1,179. Those numbers speak for themselves.
That would not indicate the need for big rebates to me. Heck, they sell Used 2009-2010 GLs for more than what I paid for mine brand new.
