I figure the point of wireless is to allow movement freedom. Since the person with the headphones on has limited ability to roam in the backseat - I am sticking with wired (no batteries to change) - headphones! The MB ones were not very good quality so my kids use our higher quality travel headphones...

I like how on this board that if anyone wants to go outside the norm it is wrong...

Audiovox has a kit and is very good quality, the kit is RF and I did one for a buddy of mine, I think the kit and labor was $150ish. You need to interface with the audio out of the DVD player into the RF receiver of the aftermarket kit.

The only time consuming part of the install is grabbing switched ignition off the Cigarette lighter. the transmitter can be placed in the small cubby behind the DVD player.

also, to counter the second post... the newer MB's GL, ML, R, and S have wireless headphones... the first gen rear entertainment was just outdated which is why it was wired

Glad mine was outdated then! Honestly - wireless headphones is just a joke for something like a backseat system...must be the battery companies pusing this option! What is the advantage?? Seriously??

The location of the player is a joke on mine - but the kids are old enough to know how it works - so no issues at all here!
