ADS and/or off-road pkg experience
Getting ready to order a GL 350 and wondering if anyone has experience with ADS and/or the off road pkg. Not sure if ADS is part of the off road pkg or if its a stand alone option. Currently have an 08 320 and feel the suspension is a bit soft so definitely would like ADS. Again any experience with either option would be appreciated. I was at the dealer today and while he could find ADS as a special order option for the GL350 could not find the off road pkg option. If anyone knows differently please let me know.

There was a recent thread discussing the off road option. It is usually available ONLY on the larger gas engine versions but that thread said that it could be 'special ordered' on the 350. There is an extra 'special order charge' (what a surprise!). If you want it badly enough you might try insisting that the dealer special order it [off road pkg]. With the pkg, it MIGHT include ADS!

I had the ORP with ADS on my 2007. I really wanted it again on my 2010, but everything the dealer & other sources said at ordering time was "not available".
I'd gladly pay several $K for the option.
Adjustable ride height, adjustable ride style with 3 options, and an awesome locking differential, not to mention a low range.
Tha package made the GL a truly capable 4X4, not simply an exquisite & comfortable evrey day ride.

Well, we do have adjustable ride height (at least in my '07) without the ORP or ADS. But if I understand correctly, there's more height available with the ORP and much improved suspension with ADS.

Yes, the ORP package constitutes a whole new drivetrain in the eyes of the EPA, meaning another costly certification. Projected sales don't cover the costs, apparently.
It's not a diesel thing, as, for example, ORP is standard equipment on all GL sold in the UK. One suspects Mercedes there somehow understands its potential customers have heard of the Range Rover.
