Dog crates

Will a 500 Vari Kennel fit behind the second row seats with the third row folded?

If so, will a 500 and a 400 behind the second row seats ?

One 500 kennel will fit but not the combination of a 500 and 400 which barely fit in my Navigator. I had a custom crate built in Texas that uses every cubic inch of space behind the second row for my two 100 lb German Shepherds. You can see their site at Kustom Krates .com

Wow, what needs a 500 and then what else is it that needs a 400 beside it?!

One issue might be the "verticalness" of the 2nd row. In my 07, the second row has a "vertical" position that nobody has ever actually used and looks really uncomfortable, but these days I don't ever need to carry anything bigger than a 100 (weimaraners to affenpinschers).

While I wouldn't do wire crates in the rear of the car (not with two right next to each other like that - invites problems) you might consider some of those soft-sided PVC-supported crates, which give full enclosure but have very straight sides.

I have to admit, when I had weimaraners we were taking to shows, I owned an LX470 (the rear seats had to be disconnected and removed) and an Excursion (V10 gas, drove like a truck, I hated its busy ride on long trips but we could load the crap out of it and still have room for five - or more). Are you taking a few pets on a cross country trip or going to dog shows or ... ?

We show Doberman Pinschers. I had to elevate one of the crates in our Expedition to offset the lip of the crates. My kids got to the point where they preferred the 3rd row seat with the second row folded flat and the girls in between.

not sure if you're set on an enclosed space but our rott's not a chewer so we have a simple metal-bar guard behind our X5's seats so the dog has the whole of the rear rug to his self

We fold both rear rows down, then cover the area with canvas painter's drop cloths. The MB mesh divider is installed behind the driver seats.
All 3 dogs ride very happily in the huge cargo area
