Advice on Add-ons
My GL is built and in route.
Any suggestions on the following add-ons:
1) 7/75 or 7/100 Extended warranty. About $3.1K or $4.2K respectively. Which one makes sense?
2) 3/30K Maintenance. At $820, no brainer. Cost for 4 year jumps +$1K probably for brakes.
3) 5 Year Tire/Wheel protection. The 20" Goodyear runflats are $500 each and cannot be repaired if there's a flat. At $750, seems to be worth it to cover 2 tire replacements during 5 years.
4) Windshield protection. The IR windshield is ~2K to replace. At $600 not sure if it's worth it. I have never replaced a windshield in any of my cars.
Getting all of them will run ~$5500-6500. Let me know what you guys think.

1. Extended warranties do not make sense until you are about to go out of factory warranty. Then shop around. Are you sure you'll have the car 4years/50000 miles?
2. What engine do you have? In a Bluetec, the $820 would probably cover your urea alone and would be a good deal (as well as the fuel filter). Those two alone cost about 6-700 dealer dependent. In a gasser, there's not much to be done in the first 30K and not necessarily a good deal.
3. Do you expect to be running Goodyear Runflats for five years?
4.$100 insurance deductible (or none, if your state mandates it.) is a much better deal.
I'd pass on all but #2 (if you are a diesel). Thise kinds of things are like Tru-Coat. Worthless extras your dealer wants to pile onto the deal out the door.
