Just wondering if anyone might have an indication of how much dealer cost is for these running boards? Hoping that someone may have come across that number.

...do you know if that is the only possible part number? My dealer seems to maintain that he is unable to go below $2000 CDN for the part and that price is a great deal.

When I mentioned that I had researched the cost not only here (through the link and part number above), but also directly from another Canadian dealer (quoted $1300CDN for the part cost), he stated that it is likely not the right part number.

As far as I know, and please correct me if I am wrong, there are essentially two types of running boards, the aluminum ones with the spherical rubber studs (as per the vehicles shown on the brochure), and the tubular ones (which is not what I am looking for).

The smoke and mirrors with the dealer is starting to annoy me. I don't like to waste anyone's time and find these shenanigans juvenile. I gave them to today to let me know the price (gave a print off of this thread). Otherwise, I think I am going to come down south to pick up a used GL550. The money saved will more than compensate for the increased fuel costs from buying the 550 over the diesel 350.

Part number B6 688 0630 is the correct part number for the RUNNING BOARD. The aluminum ones with the spherical rubber studs are the "SIDE STEPS" and not the running board. This part number is the same for all model from 2007-2010. I replaced mine last week from SITE STEPS to RUNNING BOARD, my cost was parts $900.00 plus labor $100.00. I got this price through a friends who works at MB dealership and the labor from a friend who works at the body shop. I'm selling my SIDE STEPS if anyone interested.

Can you post picutres of side steps? Will it fit 07gl450? last question - How much are you asking including shipping?

Dealer installed you are close to $1600. I believe it can be done by yourself if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.

Part #6-6-88-0630 is the correct number for the running boards which I installed on my 2007 GL450.

Ok, so just to be clear, does this part number match up with this running board which is on the cover of the 2010 GL Brochure?

Yes they will fit in 07, GL450, they came out from mine which is also an 07, GL450
