Cabin Air Filter
#26
Thread resurrection: I followed the advice posted here, and pretty easily swapped out the cabin filters through the engine compartment. I previously went through the glove box, and while that isn't hard, it's still a hassle. Engine compartment change just requires you to commit a bit, and really grab the right filter and pull it out. There is a lip that run the perimeter of the compartment that holds them in place. Just grab the old filter and pinch the front in a bit to clear the lip. Then it's easy. Installation went smoothly, just had to forcefully push it down into the spot. Worst case scenario, you can't get to slide in, just go through the glove box and slide them in that way.
Did the engine air filters at the same time.

I wonder if there is a difference between standard hvac and the version with the roof vents over the middle seats.
i have standard and have never seen a printed procedure for replacing from under hood. This both from WIS and from Mann.

the only procedure published by Mercedes or Mann is the through the glovebox procedure.
the original poster must have remembered another car and just dove in and forced it. Via engine compartment is the wrong way to do it.

I have standard, no roof-vents. This way is super easy, and as the filters are inexpensive, makes me much more likely to do it often.

Through the engine may be so wrong, but it feels so right 🤤
Lol. That's how I do it. No sense in doing through the dashboard when the engine way is so much easier.
