Carlsson enhances the new Mercedes-Benz diesel engines

The car manufacturer Carlsson increases the power of Mercedes-Benz V6 diesel engines. With the patented C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER technology, the Mercedes specialist can deliver a 20 percent improvement in performance for the 280, 300, 320 and 350 CDI engines and even for the new 300 CDI and 350 CDI units.

For example, the Mercedes-Benz E 350 CDI can achieve a performance of 280 hp (206 kW) compared with the 231 hp (170 kW) achieved by the standard engine. Meanwhile, maximum torque increases from 540 to 648 Newton metres. Since the Carlsson C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER is connected to the car’s data stream it can register and evaluate all the engine’s operating data in real time, the module guarantees improved performance without ever endangering the operating safety of either the engine or the power train. For example, the C-Tronic® reduces power during gear changes in such a way that the driver doesn’t notice the difference, thereby preserving the clutch and shielding the automatic gearbox from excess wear. At the same time, the development engineers from Merzig deliberately refrained from increasing the rail pressure and, with it, the increased strain on the injection nozzles as well as on the entire diesel high-pressure system. The patented “modus operandi” at work in the C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER remains a strictly guarded secret of the Saarland-based car manufacturer.

Despite their increased power, the engines continue to meet the same exhaust emission standards and for this reason, the Carlsson C-Tronic® is also suitable for EURO5 engines. In this way, Carlsson proves that enjoying greater driving pleasure and being environmentally aware are not mutually exclusive.

With many competitors’ products available on the market, lots of individual cables have to be connected to the vehicle’s engine wiring harness before installation. Not so with the patented “plug-and-drive” technology used in the Carlsson C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER. The C-Tronic® can be installed with minimum effort and removed at any time without leaving any residues. The plug adapter developed individually for each vehicle is stuck in between the engine control unit and the engine wiring loom. For this reason, the performance-boosting module is perfect for leasing cars, as the technology can be easily adopted into the lease agreement and simply removed afterwards.

The car manufacturer from Merzig in Saarland is renowned for its high quality standards, an attribute underscored further by its three-year guarantee. Installing the C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER system will not affect the Mercedes-Benz factory guarantee, which remains completely intact.

Carlsson is offering the C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER performance-boosting module for 1779 Euro including VAT. The module is available for the 280, 300, 320 and 350 CDI engines of the C class, CLK class, E class, CLS class, S class, GLK class, and ML class as well as for the Viano and Vito models.

Included in the scope of delivery are the additional control unit, the adapter plug and the appropriate set of cables. A TÜV certificate by the German Control Board is of course always included as well so that the performance-boosting system can be easily incorporated into your vehicle’s documents.

At present, the engine development team at Carlsson are working intensively on the C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER system for the next generation of Mercedes-Benz 350 CDI engines, which will have a base performance of 265 hp (195 kW).

"Why no GL?"

The write up says the unit uses a plug that goes between the ECU and the Wire Harness. Have you ever tried to find the ECU on your GL?? That should answer the question.
