I love my 2016 gl350
Just upgraded from an 06 R350 to an 09 GL450!
We loved our R, it was perfect car for our 3 kids, but the warranty expired.
So we got an 09 GL450 certified cpo 31500 miles P2 package, illuminated sills, running boards, full leather, wood steering, rear entertainment- multi source, 19 in wheels for $48000 from MB of Manhattan in NYC. and yes we got the remaining 2 years extended warranty!
Time will tell how the GL compares to the R.
Is this a good deal?

Was it the vehicle you wanted? Did you feel you paid the right amount of money? Are you satsified with the terms? Then it was a good deal.

Congrats, sounds like a great car. If you got them down a decent amount on the asking price and the car is clean and proved reliable, chances are your deal was a good 'un...

I have been searching for a GL450 for the wife for about 3-4 months now. 48K for a loaded 09 is fair, but not a great deal. If they throw in the CPO that would make it sweeter.
07's are going for 34-37K
08's 40-44K
09's 45-50K
Note these are actual selling prices NOT advertised as I have seen and found.

CPO was very important to us.
Good luck with your search.

how's the ride quality and the interior room compare between the two cars?
i found the GL to be a softer/floatier ride on the hwy vs. our R(airmatics)...curious your opinion since you obviously have owned both.

I only drove the GL450 for couple of days. It is back with the dealer to fix the illumined door sill. I need to drive it some more and then I'll let you know.

I just recently bought an R350. Let me share my experience and price for comparison. I didn't consider the GL because I wanted a more car like ride. I bought 2010 R350 with 5200 miles on it for $46500. The CPO warranty is better than a new one with 4.5 years and 100k miles. The dealer had it in his loaner fleet for 6 mo. It has 19" AMG wheels, wood steering wheel, pano roof, rear entertainment and P1 which that year includes memory seats, Nav and back up camera. The upgraded Command includes bluetooth phone and iPod interface. In the less than 2 mo. I've owned it, the 4Matic has gotten me through a number of huge snow and ice storms which put many SUVs in the ditch.
I didn't think about driving the GL, maybe I would have liked it, but it seems to be a lot more money.

I bought mine also a week ago, 2008, 46K mls, 1 owner clean for $32.9 from a local MB dealer, they were asking over $40 but lowered it few times and finally let the car go at that price. Nothing wrong, no accidents.

I guess I overpaid...I just got a 2008 450 with 35k miles, running boards, appearance, hitch, ipod, certified for $46 from dealer. There were cheaper cars out there but not certified, and not with correct options. The $32k price seems very very fishy....that is $13k below low blue book...
These cars were going for $41-43 wholesale at the MBZ auction last week....
