Diesel Fuel - NYC Metro area.

Hello.

I have a question for people in NYC Metro area.
I'm still using my first tank of diesel. When I go to gas station - do I need to look for specific diesel type or any type of diesel in NY Metro area is good for Bluetec.

I was doing some search into that, and I found on EPA site that all highway diesel sold in US from 12/01/2010 had to be Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel. I still found a pump last week that did not state ULSD on it. I would only pump from any pump that has ULSD on it.
Hey guys is there still 2 types of diesel sold in US? Or is it all ULSD from 12/2010?. Appreciate input.

Every station should only be selling ULSD. In some areas you may find biofuel. In that case you need to be sure not to use greater than 5%. You probably wont see that in NYC. By law, they are supposed to change the sticker on the pump to ULSD. If there is a station that you would like to buy from that hasn't updated their sticker, you can go into the store and ask them to check their invoice. Every time they get a "drop", they are given an invoice specifying exactly what they have been sold. I would probably ask them to check just to be sure.

Same here still first tankof diesel

i d never wonder this i d check hess sunoco and BP near JFK and none of them has sticker on pump and when you ask cashier they do not have clue what you talking about

ULSD ??

Any diesel is good in the us. I would not use biodiesel though.

Ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel was proposed by EPA as a new standard for the sulfur content in on-road diesel fuel sold in the United States since October 15, 2006, except for rural Alaska who transferred in 2010. California has required it since September 1, 2006. This new regulation applies to all diesel fuel, diesel fuel additives and distillate fuels blended with diesel for on-road use, such as kerosene, however, it does not yet apply to railroad locomotives, marine, or off road uses. Since December 1, 2010, all highway diesel fuel have been ULSD.

The diesel fuel used in the Blutec engines is EXACTLY the same as the fuel used in any other on road diesel now offered for sale in the US. It is now ALL Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD). You would have to try VERY HARD to find any of the older Low Sulfur Diesel (LSD) offered for sale. All the refineries put .015%S - MAX diesel 'out the door' as a matter of routine. Anything else would be a special event and therefore very unlikely.
