Cleaning MB tex

MBWorld Fanatic!
MbTex is a synthetic material. Leather cleaner isn't going to do much on that.
Mild soap and water works just fine!
Don't use armor all on any interior surface, it'll look nice and shiny as you slide around in your seat and a week later be covered in sticky dust.

Simple green for tough stuff. Otherwise any mild cleaner is fine. MB Tex is tough stuff.
I wouldn't use any leather conditioner as it would simply leave unnecessary oils on your seats that would not be absorbed = oily clothes.
Agree that Armour All is bad for all plastics.

I've been detailing my own cars for about 20 years, and we just ordered a GL. Here's my advice:
For regular cleaning, I would use a damp cloth (preferably microfiber towel so as to not leave lint).
For anything more stubborn, I'd first try a mild soap; if not there are "leather and vinyl cleaners" on the market.
The MB tex really doesn't need any protectant -- it's synthetic and non-porous, so whatever you put on is just going to wipe off on your clothing as others have mentioned above.
For what it's worth, I swear by 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium for the door panels and other vinyl surfaces on my other cars -- so perhaps that's something else to consider...

stained mbtex from clothing dye
I have almond mbtex in a car I purchased new in September 2012. I wear suits to work. I've noticed that the lumbar area of the seats is darkened and I cannot clean it with soap and water or other cleaners.
I called MBUSA and they say that the dye's in fine wool suits transfers onto the vinyl and cannot be cleaned, so I'm screwed.
Does anyone have any experience with this or how to get the seat cleaned? It seems crazy that MB would sell cars to business people who wear suits, yet have no advice on cleaning the mbtex!

Mongo..
For stubborn cleaning on MB tex I have great luck with using a Magic Eraser sponge. Lightly dampened with regular water then just a light buffing/scrubbing with the magic eraser works wonders. I had similar staining from my wifes denim jeans right on the edge of the seat contours, took it right off.
Actually the MBtex is really robust.

Thanks. I tried the magic eraser, but it didn't work. I read somewhere on this forum that Lexol Vinylex successfully removed denim dye from mb tex. I'm going to give that a try.

Once the MBTex is clean, Ultima Interior Guard Plus is a fantastic protectant/sealent. Very long lasting and durable without altering the finish (other than a very slight silky feel) and it's not sticky or shiny.
The only problem with UIGP is that on some older plastic that isn't well cleaned it creates a cloudy finish. I've got an older SLK ('01) and it works great on the MBTex seats, terrible on the hard plastic dash. But on my GL with leather it works great (yes great on leather too).
What's nice is once it's treated with UIGP it lasts for a year or two and then the only thing it takes to clean anything from it is a slightly damp cloth. IF you can get the fabric dye out of the Tex, the UIGP will keep it from restaining the upholstery. It's not cheap but it's great. For interior cleaning there are a lot of good options that all work well but a good and cheap option is to buy a gallon jug of Meguiar's APC+ (about $15) and it is a concentrate that you dilute and use in your own spray bottle. At a 10:1 dilution it works great on interiors and at that ratio makes 10 gallons of interior cleaner for just a little more than a 12 ounce retail bottle of cleaner.

I tried the vinyl ex and it did not work. Any other suggestions to get the seat Clean FIRST?
