Brake job
Dealer is charging $616 for front and $529 for rear brake job, which includes replacing roters and pads. I'm thinking about buying an OEM parts and do it myself or have a friend help me who is a mechanic.
Can someone tell me how much parts will cost, do I need to buy any addition items other than roters and pads? any website link i can purchase OEM.
Thanks.

you will need front and rear rotors, front and rear brake pads, one front brake pad wear sensor, one rear brake pad sensor, MB brake fluid DOT4+, Brake Anti Squeal Paste, brake cleaner from local auto store (get two cans). Brakes are pretty easy on MB if you have right tools and mechanical knowledge. If you are local (sacramento) I could even help you out. Good luck.

Unfortunately I'm not in Sacramento but I will keep you in mind if I run into any issues, thank you for the offer.

Yes, when you remove the caliper in order to remove the rotor, Mercedes specifies that you replace (not reuse) the bolts mounting the caliper bracket as well as the screws holding the rotor to the hub. Order this hardware, too.
Note also that you will need a 9mm allen driver, which is something you likely do not have in your toolbox.
Frankly and especially since these are safety systems, it's pretty foolish to attempt brake work without WIS procedures at hand.

I have yet to see a gl that needs rotors at the first brake service. Sure, the do get replaced as Mercedes requires dealers to do just that, but this is overkill and has no mechanical or safety reason behind it unless you have scored the rotor really badly or it is warped.
Just a data point.

I just replaced my front rotors/pads and rear pads only. I used Rotex Gold(very little dust) pads and got my rotors/pads from http://www.brakewarehouse.com/. I think it was about $100ea for the rotors(down to service min diameter) and $100 for each set of pads. I did not have to get sensors as I was not down to them yet. I have 94K miles(60% highway) and this was my 1st brake service. I have never owned a vehicle that went that long between brake jobs.
Basic job was very easy but you will need the 9mm allen socket and a 1/2 breaker bar to remove the lower caliper bolt. Also be sure to use the lugnut guide pin in your tire kit when putting the tires back on as they are VERY heavy. I have a friend who used to be a certified MB tech and he told me not to worry about replacing the caliper guide pin bolts so I didn't.
Very pleased with the feel of the brakes. I swear I think they are better than factory.

rotors dont have wear indicators. a measuring caliper is used to determine thickness and compare against minimum permissible such.
