E-Class Nav firmware on GL?

I recently looked at the Navigation software on a new E-class and liked the way it showed the upcoming exits, along with icons for facilities.

I am assuming that the hardware is the same in the new E and the 2011 GL.

That said, it there any way that the GL's Navigation firmware/software can be flashed with one that is available on the E Class?

Just curious.

Bad assumption.

GL COMAND is made by Alpine; E COMAND is made by Becker.

I know this is fact for '07-'08 models, and haven't heard anything different about later models.

The GL uses NTG 2.5, most 212 E-Classes use NTG 4.0-212. It is not possible to use NTG 4.0 software on a NTG 2.5 headunit.

Disappointing as I have an '11 GL350 and an '11 E550. E's nav and interface is much better. But it was completely redesigned in '10. The '13 GL will likely be better than the E!
