And......
After having rented Grand Cherokees and Durangos in CA(not sure how loaded new vehicles end up in National Car Rental San Fran), I have a feeling where this may be going. I hope the GL stays different enough. I really don't like the bulging rear side view of the Durango and hope this new platform doesn't dicatate too much of the body design.
We are very happy with our GL for its space and ability, but it's a Mercedes. Doesn't matter where the platform was developed and with whom, don't mess up the formula. The new ML seems to be well received but I personally think it's not my cup of tea. We'll see when the GL is presented officially, with fingers crossed; otherwise we'll have ours a while longer.

I hope the V8TT 4.6 will make it into the upcoming generation GL550 in addition to the 5.5 V8TT for the GL63.

I wonder with the new 3.5L V6 and 4.6L V8TT if they'll still make the GL450. Hopefully they put a tuned down version of the V8 TT from the GL550 into the GL450 or something similar.

Quick take on the new styling from a very biased new GL350 owner:
Love the sculpting on the side...
Very nice and more aggressive front dam intakes...
Love the roof tracks...
Potential to gain a panorama roof...
Don't care for the ML style hood... I love the old dual bump-a-lumpslike ala AMG style...
Not happy to loose the rear sunroof but looks like they may gain a panorama in one of the masked pics...
