Folks:

Would like to take some opinion on Husky vs WeatherTech Floor Liners. I am looking to get some for my GL320. Same size as GL450. Quick questions:

1- Thinking about floor liners instead of floor mats, even though I am concerned about the "plastic-like" feel of the floor liners. All-Weather Mats that MB dealers sell are thick rubber which feels and look great. How do liners feel? Rubber or Plastic? I like the thick rubber look, personally.
2- I am leaning towards Husky 39221 instead of WT DigitalFit because of price. Is that a good choice over WeatherTech or are WeatherTechs really that much better?

Please share your thoughts, especially if you have seen them in person or bought them.

My fiance had the husky liners in her truck, they fit great,quality is good, thick plastic like.. and cheaper than weathertech!

Thanks for the reply. Did that plastic feel bother you guys? I like the rubber feel and thickness. Since liners are so popular, I'm hoping they feel solid as well. Do they?

More plasticy than rubber..it didnt bother me at all, i wasnt barefoot in the car lol. I think youll be happy. They were very solid

Thanks for the replies. Ordered the Husky fronts...let's see how it feels. If I like, will order the back row as well.

Did not like the Husky personally. Did not fit all the corners like a glove. Plus it did not feel that solid (rubber-like) to me. I like the heavy feel/look of rubber. Might just buy the MB or some other all-weather rubber mats. Suggestions?

We have had the Weathertech digital liners in my wife's '08 GL 320 since we've owned it. They fit fantastically and do not move around. Hold huge amounts of water, snow, ice, etc. They are very solid and do have more of a 'rubbery' feel than a 'plastic' one imho. We have the full set and are very pleased with them. The rear cargo area looks pristine after 3 1/2 years since it has been so well protected btw. I can highly recommend them.

Cool. What is the best place to buy them. Seems like they sell for MSRP at all sites! Is that true? No discounts at all?

We use the OE carpet for nice weather, the rubber "all weather" for spring/fall, and the MB liners during winter months. My opinion that is the best way to maintain the carpet. BTW the OE floor liners are made by Weathertec but have MB label embossed. They are great as mentioned. But, every season is another reason for a different set of mats IMHO.

I've always just bought ours from the Weathertech.com site. Maybe you can buy some on eBay from someone who has sold their GL?

I just bought new car (3 months ago) and due to heavy winters up north I was contempalting the same question. MB mats have honey comb configuration which will have some pockets filled up quickly than other areas of mat so not a good choice. If you are in a area with lots of rain, mud, slush or snow, go with Weathertech. I did the hybrid solution - got liners for the front and deep groove mats for rear (all WeatherTech) and very satisfied with the results. Hope this helps.

I was split since I could not see WT in person as local retailers don't carry it. And I'm not terribly fond of the MB look. WT much better in pictures. But I like the solid feel of rubber. Since I live in VA, we get some snow/slush but not a whole lot. So I could use either. Hate to order WT on web, and return if I dont like and on top of that, pay return shipping! Therefore this long thread...could WT be used year-long? Or are they not meant for that at all? Want to replace the car mats for sure.

If you want to know what the Weathertech mats or liners look like, go to a MB dealership and look at the MB mats and liners. They are the same! The only difference is a MB logo vs a Weathertech logo. In the past, you could order the MB mats/liners from sites like Dealerfit.com for the same or less than you could buy them directly from Weathertech. If you like the OEM look, buy them from Dealerfit.com if you like the aftermarket look buy them from Weathertech.

You can buy the OEM liners which are same as Weathertechs but with MB logo instead from EBay cheaper than Weathertechs.

So I called local dealers. None of them carry liners and are sure that the mats/liners are not made by WeatherTech anymore. Will make some calls to see where I can order the WT locally. Never thought getting mats could be so much work

I'm sure they can change suppliers (not quickly), and I have the MB liners with MB logo. Underneath is marked "manufactured by Weathertec." I got them last year.

Got it. I can personally not be sure of it either since I have never seen the MB liners in person. Neither of the 2 dealers in VA near me carries them in stock. I did see the MB all-weather mats and they don't look anywhere like WT ones. WT ones are much better and more expensive the MB ones.

Yes, it appears they have changed suppliers yet again. I would get these, they are less expensive than the Weathertech and will serve the same purpose. I don't think the Wethertech/OE liners that I have are particularly high end looking but they are functional. Plus, if you get these, you can be our guinea pig and post pictures.

I struggled with the decision too but now very content with WT. I bought them at their Canadian location (in Burlignton, Ontario). The factory showroom gave me a chance to try them before paying. Good gesture.

Liners are not meant for all seasons but could be used if you wish. The main purpose of liners is to hold all that slush, ice, mud and stuff under your shoes/boots. I guess that is the reason they are made of high density plastic material - light weight & maintain their shape for ever. Heavy rubber material would be difficult to remove (for cleaning) once your liner is full of crap. Also rubber would be too flimsy to retian the contact all around.

BTW - MB never sold Liners - EVER. That is a wrong information.

These are the new liners. The are being sold on Ebay by a MB Dealership, Beshoff MotorCars in San Jose, CA.

Agreed. MB does sell liners..but as special orders in most dealers. Both of dealers I talked to, were willing to order for me. I think I am now leaning towards the WeatherTech all-weather floor mats. Trying to figure out where can I find them below MSRP (if possible). WT on their website has decent price but has shipping. MB has decent mats too but WT are much better looking.

Agreed WeatherTech (WT) is McNeil but not MB (Mercedes Benz). MB has never manufactured liners as OEM though some MB dealers have been selling after market versions like Husky & WT.

I suggest WT liner for front (if you get slush/snow etc.) and WT mats for rear otherwise go with any all weather floor mats including OEM MB or WT if you live in sunny states like CA or FL.

MB had these manufactured with their logo and sells them as a "genuine MB accessory." It has the selection for the liners when you build your own on the MBUSA site.
