2008 GL550 Rear DVD Entertainment Player
Am looking for a replacement of my rear DVD Player. Anyone know of a good one for sale at a reasonable price? The dealership price is ridiculous.

I'd go with a Vizualogic system like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vizualogic-7...6b4319&vxp=mtr
I have the MB factory system but the Vizualogic system would have worked better for me.

Or plug an ipod into the video inputs on the DVD player (using an Apple composite video out cable) and use that as a source. We haven't played a DVD in a long time since starting to do that.

I don't exactly understand what's wrong. Did the whole DVD player fail or did one of the screens fail? If a screen failed then here's my responses to that issue:
Don't think the Vizualogic system will work to cure the OP's issue because the factory RSE will have a cutout in the seat.
The iPad idea won't work because you can't output a movie and watch it on the iPad at the same time.
The OP's only solution is to buy another OEM RSE screen.
If the player failed then you can just buy a cheap portable DVD player and plug it into the inputs at the DVD player (assuming they work) and or go with the iPad idea.
@EWT how did you get the Apple cable to plug into the input jacks? I just bought the Apple composite cable for iPad/iPod Touch/iPhone and the dumb stylized aluminum connectors are too fat to fit into the composite RCA jacks on the MB system. I ended up having to spend $18 in adapters at Radio Shack to jerry rig a solution to fit with a male to male RCA adapter then female to female to essentially bring the plugs further out.
