2013 Order Process

Back in 06/07 a group of us were the first to order the GL and we formed the initial core of participants in the GL section of the MB forum. We all benefited from each other's experience with the dealers and the overall progress of getting our vehicles delivered. I am anticipating ordering a 2013 and invite others already "in the game" to post comments, advice, and order updates in this thread. Cheers!

Good idea!

I'll give my experience....so far.

I have been looking to go to diesel for a long time. I got close on trading in on a 2010, then again on a 2011, but decided to wait for the 2013.

I've been waiting with eager anticipation as the 2013 started to leak. I was on the internet, talking to my dealer, etc.

In early August I called my salesman to get status of 2013 GL350's. He said they had an allocation of 2 diesels for 2013 and one of those is already sold. He said if I was interested I could go after the 2nd allocation, and configure it any way I wanted. We arranged some time to configure my GL over the phone (my dealer is a little over an hour away). We got it configured, and they went to modify the one in the order queue. He called back the next day and said there were 3 problems - electric 2nd row seat, panoramic roof and leather (which is needed for ventilated seats). I didn't ask about the surround camera since I heard it was delayed and I don't do enough parallel packing to justify it versus the rear camera.

I told him leather/ventilated was a problem, pano roof was an annoyance, and the 2nd row seats it's a big deal. Well he called back and said they tried something different on the leather and got it to accept it. He didn't know what they did since someone else handles that process. I keep promising him a nice meal if he gets me the pano roof, but he keeps telling me it won't be coming.

So we ordered the GL. Price was not negotiable - it was sticker price. I qualify for a fleet program and I can apply that to the purchase.

I am scheduled to get my GL sometime in November. I can't wait.

Congrats on the order....! I have the Obsidian Black on my 2011 and it's gorgeous! Gotta keep it clean, however!

I still am amazed on the leather "shortage"...... I will be waiting till November to pull the trigger, perhaps the picture will be a bit different by then.

Does anyone know whether the auburn color is available in standard leather or do you have to go,to the Designo package to get that color? Some early literature indicated both yes and no! Anybody seen the auburn color?

Dragerking...... let us know how that order goes. The options you have listed seem to be a bit different in terminology than those offered on the MB build site. I dont see an "AMG stlyling package?"

This is a Canadian build, and the 350's get the 550's looks. And right know, I will be holding back on ordering, as there are many delays. Hopefully will order within the next month. I'll keep you updated.
