Ignition hold position 3

Hi, I read that on the ML's you don't need to hold the key on position 3 until it fires up, all you do is move to position 3 and the car starts itself. Was this an optional feature on the GL or can it be configued via Star?

On any of the GLs the start switch (whether keyless go of not) merely initiates the start sequence. Once contact is made all the other parts of the sequence are out or your control.

Most if not all of the newer mb vehicles are push- button start ready. What that means is that as mentioned before the key is just th initiator. Cranking is automatic and stops when the engine fires up. So all you have to do is twist the key to position 3 and let to (while holding the brake pedal). Cranking and starting sequence commences.

I think just about every thing since the electronic keys were introduced worked that way.

I know the 2000 S did.
