dear friends gd day my dream was to own a mercedes gl and i have came across a gd deal and got one for my house gl 450 2010 with the new model i mean the one that has led lights in the lower frnt bumper

in my car i have 1 botton which lifts the car up and down but i dont have the botton to make the suspenision deefrent i have blanc botton there

when i drive the car in my house parking i feel all the car is rolling from left to right not comfertble at all and same while i drive in the road very disturbing

i went to my service center they checked and told me all ok

but still i feel very bad driving the car so i asked my service manager to come visit me in the my house parking where the rolling is felt very stron and he did came and we drove in the parking he felt it but claims he does not know if this is ok or not

today he took the car to the service center and told me again he check all and it looks ok

i feel very bad now and worse i come to a point thinking maybe i amde a mistaek buying this car

any one has this problem please help with ideas

not quite so in american english, but nevertheless.

the gl is a tall heavy vehicle equipped with air ride. so some bounce and head toss side-to-side is expected especially over uneven side-to-side pavement.

it will not ride like a car. but it will certainly not ride like as bad as a solid axles jeep as the head toss with those might give you a headache. dont know what else to say.

I agree with Alx....I think you just are not use to driving an SUV. I have the exact same truck and it is a joy to drive.

dears i am used to drive suv for many years i am driving currently the toyota lc 200 and before lc 150

i never had such feeling in the car i am sure you are talking correct info but i feel very bad in the car and this is not what i expected to get buying this car

Any ideas what to check

Are you driving while the vehicle is raised up? This would explain the body rolling you describe.

Your truck has very robust diagnostics and onbowrd troubleshooting tools. If the dealer found nothing there is a good chance there is nothing wrong.

Drive another gl one and see if it rides the same way.

Yes, go drive another GL and if it drives the same then it is your perception and not the car. The GL has air suspension which should feel very different and softer than other SUVs you are used to like the land cruiser you spoke of.

in israel we have few gl's i can try to do it i have found another gl but they have some extra add on system which i don’t know how it’s called for the suspension so it’s not ok to try not same configuration

hi thanks i wish i had but i checked and found only 1 lady i know has that car with the ads so i thought that would not be a gd test for me

today the main tech guy for the importer of mercedes came to my city took the car for a ride he asked the manager of my city garge to send him the vin of the car by email he wants to check somthing with germany so now i have to wait i guess i am not happy owner

yesterday my garage called me said they have same car like mine in the place with no ads so they offer me to visit me in my house and take it to a drive with me and so we did now after i drove i feel so sad that now i know its not my car which is not good but its a problem of all cars like that i guess the only thing left for me to try is same car with ads and this was not made yet what do u think will be my results ?

the ads will make zero difference.

but... i have yet anybody to complain that the gl bounces/ head tosses.

especially if you come from a land cruiser.

I have never felt like this

in the gl I feel like sea sick

its moving from left to right and right to left like in bad sea when you are with a boat

Yes, the GL has a little more body sway than most, but it should not be so bad.

Do you drive with the seat in a very high position?
This increases the feeling.

I think it is just a combination of the size and weight and the relatively compliant suspension.

This is very characteristic of the GL...the air suspension makes the SUV bouncy to eliminate potholes and height differences in the road. The GL also moves slightly up and down at red lights and continuously moves up and down on freeways due to the adaptive AIRMATIC system

Also check your tire pressures.

If you notice the air suspension cycling up and down, you are either very perceptive or have a leak.

I experienced the same seasick sensation at traffic lights, and when parking - it's the air suspension leveling the car and/or bringing it back to the slow speed position (front is up a little). Now that I know what the car is doing, I expect it, and no longer feel the seasick sensation.
