Mercedes GL450, 2007 - 7-speed automatic transmission problem
0717 The signal from component Y3/8n1 (Turbine speed sensor(VGS)) is not available.
0718 Component Y3/8n1 (Turbine speed sensor (VGS)) is defective.
It seems it is not a cheap fix. However, these readings are for 2 years already. The car still runs great except that sometimes I have to restart the engine if I lost power after temporarily stop of the car (on red light for example). It happens once a months or so. I am wondering how I can cure this issue without paying absurd price to the dealer to replace a sensor. It seems that it is not complex procedure except that it requires SNC coding. I heard that some do SNC coding outside dealer. Any ideas are highly appreciated!
One more thing, I heard that dealer will not sell conductor plate without replacing it at their facility. In other words, they force you to do repair only with them. Is that possible to get OEM conductor plate somewhere else? The dealer also says that the conductor plates for European and other markets are different. Can be this true?
Thank you again.

this means you consequently need to refill the tranny and the process is not very straight forward as it loosely resembles dialysis

also once the plate is replaced the tcm needs to be reset as it will not adopt the new plate otherwise. this can be done with das or any scan professional scan tool that can communicate specifically with the tcm and issue a reset command.
cheapest oem parts (imo) are at parts.com.
