New MB owner from Las vegas, hi everyone!

Had my 2007 GL450 for over a year now and had a few repairs under warranty, but it is time to do some repairs on my own expense now.
Under warranty had to replace the fuel pump, engine won't start after crank but eventually turned to be the main computer which has been replaced also.
Power steering pump failed, sheared off the axle, that was replaced also under warranty.

Now I have 65k miles on it and looks like I have to replace the front brakes and rotors according to MB dealership. There is a little wear on the rotors but brake pads still have some "meat" left, I suppose they had been replaced before and ignored the rotor wear. I have replaced brakes and rotors on my 2002 Audi A6 on my own and was wondering if it is anything different than a regular swap.

I appreciate any response, and happy to be part of MB world forums!

Rotors will warp long before there is a structural danger. Are your rotors warped or you brake pad wear indicator on? If none if the above you have nothing to worry about.

Brake pad indicator is not ON.
All 4 rotors have an outstanding lip around the pads. Is this common?
Thanks.

The 'lip' is normal wear of the rotor by the pads. If there was no lip the pads would be overhanging the rotors. Don't worry overly much about the miles vs the pad wear. We have nearly 100K miles on our GL 320 CDI and there is still lots of pad left and I haven't changed the pads yet (but we drive very gently on the brakes). Check the remaining pad thickness and, if you have 3-5 mm left or more - both sides of each wheel - and no brake indicator light you are OK. Even with the indicator light on you will still have adequate stopping power [for normal stops without a tow] for enough time for you to replace the pads - and probably rotors. If you start to hear a squealing noise when you touch the brakes that would indicate the steel pad backing is starting to rub on the rotors. THAT will require changing both the pads and rotors.

Thank you so much, I do hear a slight squealing noise
, brake light is not on, but definitely is not a grinding noise
which would worry me. Just replaced the brakes and rotors on my F350 and Audi A6. I do have somewhat mechanical skills..
Is it me or the brakes on the GL are a little mushy? Been like that since I got it over 1 year ago...Never actually talked to a GL owner before...and it looks like I missed a lot.

your front pads are gone

rears (at least the outer side) appear alright. however, those usually wear first on the inside so they too need to be checked

and yes - a well defined lip on the disk is alright on that particular vehicle
