looking to buy a GL with warranty
Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a gl for my wife. Preferably white with good miles and clean history and warranty is a plus. Would like to keep it under 30k.
Any particular issues these cars have, any production years to stay away from? We have owned few sedans in the past and warranty was a must, specially on my s600. Please reply with any suggestions or if you have a nice one for sale. Thank you!

They all share some of the same issues. Air struts fail and 7 speed tranny will suffer from a bad turbine speed sensor. The diesel seems to have some high dollar issues and the gasseers suffer from leaking cam plugs but they are not expensive to replace. I have over 150k on my GL450 and I would say it has been a great vehicle. Use Arnott for the replacement struts and a good indy mechanic or do the work yourself. I just did a rear airbag change and it was not difficult or expensive to do.

Shop until you know EXACTLY how the vehicle should look and feel, then you can spot good ones and bad ones.
Have your dealer pull the service records on anything you are seriously considering.
I bought my '08 GL320 last January with 96K for a good bit under 30K, and probably spent just about 31K when I include the warranty. (Gas are cheaper and more plentiful than diesel)
If you are going to add an aftermarket warranty, it is cheaper and easier if the car is under 100K and if it has a current warranty in place.
