GL550 Brakes/Calipers

Anyone have a good bead on where to get great buy on rotors, brakes, and snappy colored caliper setups for 2011 GL550?

Dealer is quoting $1000 range for parts/labor.

Would really like to get a great new set of front/rear rotors/brakes and BLACK calipers....

Cheers,

The Tire Rack has good pads and rotors for reasonable prices. I'm a big fan of the Akebono pads they sell that produce about .001% of the dust that the OEM pads produce. Unless there is something wrong with the calipers, a can of high temp black paint should do the trick there.

I did a brake job on our 2010 GL550 several months ago. Used eBay drilled/slotted rotors and Akebono pads. I did all four wheels. There's almost NO brake dust and things have worked perfectly (including long road trips towing a trailer, etc.).

Unfortunately neither of us painted the calipers. I too wish there were bigger/better.

I'd check with an MB dealer what the parts only price is, I recently replaced the rear discs on my GL450, and the were around $140 for the pair, which I didnt think was so bad, and Napa was only about $40 cheaper.
I thought it was a pretty good deal for OE parts.
