LCD command screen too bright?

LCD command screen too bright?
So the command screen suddenly is very light and cannot be adjusted using brightness control. Worked fine when purchased a few months ago, now very light. Bad LCD? Bad ribbon cable for sensor? Needs to be reset?
Like my last post, I hate to take it to the dealer.

Thanks. I am looking for info on the circuit board as well. I pulled the unit and checked the cable connecting in the back (perhaps there could be another cable inside the screen housing). I can buy a replacement screen for ~$87 but wanted to know if there could be something else before I pull the unit out again.
