Front wipers fuse keep blowing
My wife's 2011 GL550 today started with blind spot assist malfunction when I was driving on thruway and few minutes after that the wipers stop working. Of course this had to happen when it was raining/we snow. I check the fuse(#60) and it was blown. So I replaced the 5A fuse and it was blown immediately. Has anyone has this happen to them? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Still under warranty? if so let them deal with it.
A) something got shorted maybe. remove fuse, take a multi meter and figure out which is 12v side and which is circuit side. measure fuse circuit side to ground. it should be an open circuit or close to it. if it comes back as a low impedance start digging I guess.
B) transmission froze up in wiper assembly, although my heart says it shouldn't cause breaker to trip and would be gradual slowing of wipers that you would have noticed.

Hey just got same problem.
About a year ago had issue with Blind Spot assist and front wipers not working. Replaced fuse 60 and wipers worked okay for a year (did not fix the Blind Sport assist problem)
Fuse has now gone again and have tried to replace but fuse blows immediately.
Does anyone have a solution?
Will take it to a local garage but any clue where to start looking would be excellent and very helpful!
I checked fuse 100 in engine compartment and it is OK.

#60 fuse blown
For the benefit of everyone who is as frustrated as I am regarding lots of posts on problems and no solutions, I ran into similar situation on 2012 gl350 bluetec #60 blows immediately
Fuse 60 in rear compartment feeds the low side of wiper on/off relay in engine box, tele-aid, rear sam, pneumatic seat, glove box switch, backup camera and in my case a shorted radar sensor (one of two) behind rear bumper.
what I did was Pull the first aid cover remove plastic unit and unplug the white connector inside the foam, there are two, and the short went away.
Now you can proceed to pull bumper and replace one or both radar sensors that are fed by the back up sensors, very expensive units new but you can put used ones in and swap side to side for diagnostics
yes, you are all welcome

Same problem. Where is passenger side radar senson connection?
I had the same problem. First, blind spot detection system error, system inoperative message. Then, a week later, front wipers stopped working. Fuse 100 ok, fuse 60 blown. Replaced fuse and blew again right away. Opened first aid kit door, removed plastic liner, and disconnected the white connector for the driver's side radar sensor, but could not find a second white connector on that side, or any white connector on the passenger side. Tried another fuse and wipers now functioning normally, so it seems like the driver's side radar sensor is shorted or otherwise failed. Questions: where is the connector for passenger side radar sensor, and where can I purchase replacement sensors, preferably in Canada, but US will do?

Thanks everyone
My Blind side assist has failed and today my wipers stopped working on my 2011 Ml350 Bluetec. Glad I found you guys 'cause the 5 amp fuse (#60) keeps blowing. Removed the Medical Kit panel and liner, disconnected the white connection in the foam sheath and wipers working again after replacing fuse. Now I know which radar sensor to replace. Will get one online. Thanks again. Does anyone know off hand the part number I need for the driver's side radar sensor (w164)? Cheers!

Does anyone have any info on bumper cover removal? I’m assuming it is necessary to get to faulty blind spot sensors, correct?

Here's a link for the front bumper removal and replacement procedure.

The rear bumper doesn't need to be removed to remove the blind spot assist sensors. They are positioned in a plastic clip housing. They are famous for water ingress, swelling and shorting out. I hope this helps.

Same problem
Trying to take your advise. Thanks so much for the input! One question, What does this "white connector for the driver's side radar sensor" look like? Is it these ones in the picture? I disconnected these and replaced the #60 fuse and it blew immediately. Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thank you so much my friend! I will definitely use your advice. One question, this plastic clip housing, where exactly is it located? Is it accessible through the first aid door hatch? Or is it only accessible under the rear bumper drivers side? Thanks
