Liftgate problem need some help
Hi guys
My lift gate will open no problem if I press the stop button on the remote then start it again it will close ,this leads me to believe that the sensor that tells the door where it's at is working.
My problem is trying to close the door once it's opened.if I try to close it with the button or the remote it will close like an inch stop then come back up .
I removed one of the small shocks to see what will happen and now the door closes no problem it just doesn't stay completely up because of the weight of the door.can the motor be weak ?what else could this be thank you

In this case it has nothing to do with the latch. , the problem is it only closes an inch than opens again , it does not make it on its own
Thanks
Thanks

It is the pressure sensor
The issue is the pressure sensor that is located in the rubber gasket that surrounds the liftgate openning. If you take a small peice of cardboard (like from a pizza box) and place it under the rubber gasket near the right side tail light, it will enable the sensor to reach the correct pressure point to complete the closing/latching operation. If that works, you can either replace the gasket/sensor or place something more perminate under the gasket like a small length of hot glue, thick rubber band, or a length of an 1/8" dia o-ring. Anything that will push/prop the gasket & sensor up will do the trick.
