Well, considering you ha installed the same control valve that was on the old compressor I think making a reset or reprograming with Star Diagnosis it is going to clear this fault unless, you have a short somewhere else.
FYI the wire on mine was blue with green stripe instead of violet with black stripes on a 2008 GL320. If you can get to the A/C connector you should be able to pull the sleeve back a little bit and make sure. Just be careful. The first wire I tried to put my DMM on killed the engine as soon as I put the DMM on it. Make sure you have the right wire before you start cutting into the wires.

I also experienced the AC coming on and off randomly for no apparent reason. My code reader said error 9006 compressor short circuit. I can confirm that 2009 GL320 also has blue/green wire for AC compressor. I installed diode as shown and have no issues so far. Thanks for your detailed pictures. Find blue/green wire Install diode
So this is an odd issue. It does work but my situation was a bit different. My ac clutch or really just a pulley since these ac compressors never disengage. It’s more like a dampener than a clutch. At any rate there is a bearing in there and mine was making a ton of noise. I decided to just try and replace the clutch/dampner with the compressor on the car. I figured this would be easier than opening up the system for a compressor swap. Well I did manage to change the clutch with the compressor on the truck. This is 2011 gl450. Problems arose though. The ac clutch short error came up and **** down the ac control valve. I have no idea why this happened since the new clutch has no electrical component. So I ordered a new compressor and just for the heck of it some diodes. I installed the diode just as described here on the top of the engine and my ac worked again. I will keep the new compressor because this way I will never have it fail Murphy’s law.
Here's the wire in question on a gas engine (GL 550 in this case). It is by itself inside a ribbed rubber cover that comes up from the compressor behind the power steering reservoir before joining a bunch of other wiring into a common cover on top of the valve cover:
The cover was cut to access the wire
1N4007 diode is inside the black shrink wrap and soldered to the A/C signal wire

Reason: add info
Diode ordered from eBay 10x for $1.78! Can’t wait to get them and give this solution a try. If this works, this may be my biggest $$aved by searching this forums for solutions.
Thx all for sharing knowledge, especially @Vss
could you pm more precise instructions on to where and how to connect the diode , I have everything it’s just that I’m way too much of a visual learner and do appreciate the pictures
I have a 2010 GL450 , I found the blue, green wire , I’m totally lost where to disconnect to get the diode solderized and reinstall

I’ll solder it eventually, but just for now I used a quick connector. Don’t ask me about the stupid magnets the previous owner put on the fuel line😖

1. Strip a short section of insulation on the blue green A/C wire to expose the wire inside.
2. Wrap a couple of turns of the cathode end of the diode around the stripped blue green wire and solder
3. Solder a short section of wire to the anode end of the diode, put a ring connector on the other end of the wire and connect to a ground.
4. Use shrink wrap and/or electrical tape to insulate anything that is uninsulated.
Im reading 5 bars , fans don’t kick in when compressor is on , just did the diode soldering still no cold air , how ever no leaks still has freon

Added the 40 cent diode and saved a $1000. Many thanks for sharing this. It could have turned into an expensive proposition. 2008 Mercedes R550.
Hello friend. Would you please help me, by telling me the colors of the ac wires that I need to install the diode, and where I can find them on my 2008 R350?

There are literally pictures in this thread that do just that. If you’re still confused, then take a pic of your wires and post it here and we’ll help you pick out the right one.
Thank you. I checked the thread and don't see the correct color of wires for my 2008 R350. I see other models. If you come across the correct color code for an 08 R350, please respond. I'm a grateful student and you're my mentors.

Respond with the requested picture of the wires in your bundle, and you will have an answer very quickly

Hey man. I have a 2008 R350. The ac kicks on and immediately fades off blowing humid warm air.
Would you please send me pics and/or all information on how you were successful and Victorious, installing the diode. Also, PLEASE let me know the color of the correct wires. I'm a grateful student and I appreciate your mentoring me on this great opportunity to do what you did. Freakin awesome!
Your diode install probably saved you $3,000. Please assist a guy in need to help his family stay cool. The humidity activates my passengers Asthma. I'm in The Bronx, NY, and i'ts HOT!🔥🙏🧡👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💪
Hi, Can you share the solution with me please? I have codes 9006 and 9103. 2008 ML350 4Matic
It's not really that long of a thread, I would think someone with a problem would just read it, but if that's too much trouble: Just read 28-31 and 33-37.

I added diode 1N4007 (same as yours) to my 2010 GL550 with original AC compressor. It did not work. Should I try different diode 1N5817 or ....?
i have solution! if you have fault code 9006. it's very easy to fix it. send me private message.
hello, friends have the ml w164 bj2009. I have the problem with ERROR CODE 009006 too. air conditioning works sometimes and sometimes not. With me under the bonnet everything looks different. I can't find the cables for the diode to attach 1N4007. engine code om642
