2008 GL320 - STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT
Recently got a nice used GL320. Time to fix minor annoyances.
The Steering column adjuster moves the column FORWARD and BACKWARD ( in and out), but NOT up and down. I hear Motor noise, but it doesn't move.
Fuse or replace motors or ?
Advice requested.

I have a somewhat of a similar issue as the op reported with my X164 : anyone else encountered this?
The steering column bracket assembly, that has the turn signal, gear shift, cruise and steering adjustment levers, has rotated counter-clockwise about 25 degrees. No problems in using any controls, everything works as expected, it's just annoying to have the turn signal lever so down low that i keep hitting it with my knee and activating the wipers. Not to mention so many times I've hit the cruise control as it is now in the position where turn signal lever should be.
The bracket itself is not loose or wiggling. It's tight but seems to have rotated so far left.
Dealership wants to change the whole steering column... imagine my shock.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
this is actually not a complicated fix. unfortunately, due to litigation risk the dealer will not get involved with fixing it, but rather replacing the whole column.
