Hitch Installation options for 2008 GL 320?
I am an newbie and about to take possession of a 2008 GL 320 and trying to get a few things lined up. As I continue to search the forum threads, are there any viable aftermarket tow hitch and wiring harness installation options for the 2008 GL 320 or is the dealer the only option? I need to have a 7 way connector and trailer brake controller installed. Thanks!

Try Amazon - that is where I bought the hitch for my GL450. It is an easy install. They also sell wiring harness (I think all made by Curt). I installed a wiring harness and it was plug and play. Unsure about the brake control but I am sure it is out there.

Hi,
What are you planning to tow? Makes a big difference as to what to install. The Kurt tow hitch is good for 3500 lbs. the factory hitch is rated at 7500 lbs. Early ones had/have to be modified with some welding, not a big deal. The new factory hitches have the welding already done, and, allot of the old ones were repaired under recall.
I went with the factory hitch as I tow a camper and various trailers once in a while. Got a used one on the bay with the factory reinforcing bars(very important) and harness for $600.00. New runs about $900.00-$1000 or so plus installation if you aren't doing it yourself. As mentioned before, depends on what you are going to be towing.

Thanks guys...I ended going with the dealer install. I will be pulling a vintage 17ft airstream which is pretty light but my wife wants to be able to pull a horse trailer, so we decided not to take any chances in me sourcing the wrong part or flailing at the install myself

Hello, I'm looking to tow a trailer on an 07 GL450 that did not come with a hitch from the factory.
To tow, would I purchase the Curt C13102 hitch on etrailer.com?
I'm confused on what wiring kit I would need to purchase (there are 3 options on etrailer.com with different prices).

Thanks much for the advice.
