08 420cdi command drains battery
Hi folks, I have a strange one with my GL and Im afraid a dealership is not an option!
Essentially the sound system gave a loud noise when my wife was driving and stopped working. When I went to look it was trying to load/boot but stuck on the mercedes logo before restarting and hanging again. Long story short battery completely flat next morning. Jumped her and after charging for a while the sterio came back to life, my joy was short lived. A few minutes later the system went quiet, no sound but the screen still showed and appeared to work by changing radio station but after a few more minutes again the same logo.
So dealership had it for two weeks, charged me £1K and said they have not found the problem but need an unknown amount of hours to find the problem, may take them £5K was what I was told. There is a lot more to it than that but thats the nice version, never even received a report outlining what they have done.
Anyway Ive now removed all fuses in the trunk (boot) related to command and she is not going flat so at least useable. To me the main thing is the vehicle gets you home and starts in the morning so can now start to isolate circuits.
Im suspicious of the amplifier since the sound goes first. Has anyone any experience in this area?? Ie where is it?
Incidentally, she has the DVD system/parking camera etc.
