Replacing ABS sensors yet again. Cheap ones this time?
I have a 2010 GL350 in South Florida, and the ABS sensors from 2009-2010 apparently had a problem with high humidity. MB issued a service advisory for SoFla and Puerto Rico to replace all sensors if one of them failed. My dealer replaced all sensors -- 3 times -- between 2012 and 2014.
It seems the front sensors are failing once again. Brakes are locking up at low speed and dash shows ABS ESP inoperative. No longer under warranty, and I do not have a DAS unit to read the codes, but I've been down this road before and it is pretty clear I need to replace the front sensors.
I can order the MB OEM front sensors for about $125 each. Or I can get some cheap Chinese knockoffs for about $35 for the pair. Normally, I would always go quality. But it seems quality isn't working with these. Even if the Chinese knockoffs fail after a year, I still come out ahead. Unless of course the Chinese knockoffs don't work at all, meaning my ABS braking and ESP control will fail when I need them most.
Anybody have insight or comments on this?

You can get the aftermarket ones, they are really all built about the same.
They should last more than a year though, you may have just gotten a bad sensor.
Any shop with a basic scanner should be able to diagnose which one is bad though. Where about in south FL are you? I could scan it for you and at least see which one is actually the problem, and you could replace it with 1 factory sensor instead of having to buy all 4.

have them read with star/ das. it might or might not be the sensors. your abs unit is also susceptible to high humidity.
if it is the sensors again- get chinese ones. it really doesnt matter for that particular part.

Thx, I will try to get the codes read. Even track down ItalianJoe1 since we are both in Miami.

We had the same problem and I installed the cheap ones from eBay in June. I used the part number from the MB service ticket.
There's been no problems since and I feel like I save a small fortune.
