Do you have to open the lid to the brake fluid reserviour when changing brakes?

Do you have to open the lid to the brake fluid reserviour when changing brakes?

As title. Is this required? Does fluid need room to rise? Thank you.

Unless you've refilled it at some point, the fluid will have space to go back up. Removing the lid doesn't change anything either way. If fluid has been added, when you push the pads back it will overflow the bottle.

Just makes it easier to push pitons in.
If it's full, it will overflow when you push pistons back in.

I always do, it makes it easier to push in the pistons as mentioned earlier and it makes you check the fluid level and make sure everything is ok.

+1 I do the same. Not sure if it really makes it easier, but I have always done it. I've done dozens of brake jobs over the years.
