GL320 HARMONIC BALANCER replacement
Hi guys,
I recently had my 2008 GL320 CDI repaired by a very good mechanic ( oil seal leak). He inspected the belt ( serpentine) and it was in good condition.
Yesterday it snapped ( was shredded) whilst driving on freeway. Fortunately was able to pull into a gas station ( with no power steering ability).
Had it towed to mechanic. We found all pulleys, and pumps were fine and turning smoothly.
After some head scratching, we saw extensive damage on one of the lines of the HARMONIC BALANCER .
Sharp pieces were formed, and sharp cuts from frayed metal. For sure sliced my belt.
Belt is cheap, so is install.
The BALANCER is $675 from dealer.
I found some aftermarket ones FEBI BILSTEIN for $200.
(I even thought about sanding or dremeling the grooves)
Question:
Is the part the same for the 2008 and the 2007 GL320?
And is it same as 2007-2008 ML320 AND R320 DIESELS?
Help requested.
Thanks in advance.

GL320 Harmonizer is same 2007 and 2008
I found it.
GL320 Harmonizer is same for 2007 and 2008.
The OEM Code is A 6420300103
The MB dealer LIST price is $675
I got a FEBI BILSTEIN ( apparently not great quality) for $190.
I still would love to know for future reference, if certain PARTS are interchangeable on GL320 / ML320 / R320 DIESELS ( for 2007-2008)

Bolt for NEW Harmonizer
Thank you for that ALERT. I hope I'm covered, The product listing says that it comes with "woodruff key, bolts and washers for a complete repair"
I'm still wondering HOW it is possible for my HARMONIZER to have developed sharp edges along almost the entire circumference, but ONLY on one of the lines.

on the part numbers. there are multiple part numbers for updated parts. my system is showing 103 to be the original part number, while 403 and 503 to be updates 503 being the latest. it is confusing.

Rock in BElt, damaged HARMONIC BALANCER and SHREDDED Belt
Still wondering how that stone could have flown in there, since the bottom of engine compartment is fairly well shielded with a steel cover underneath.

nope because they get stretched when they get torqued down. i would recommend using fcp euro parts or rmeuropean parts from here on out top notch service and i have never had an issue with missing items etc and they have the best customer service just my 2 cents
