2012 GL350. I have front footwell lights that light up when a door is opened or are dimly lit at night while driving. I just noticed I don't have them for the rear? There are usually lights mounted below the front seats so rear passengers see light. Why don't I have them?

I've seen pics on ebay of other 164's and they have footwell lights in the rear. ebay, 2012 GL350 also:

i have the fronts but not on the rear...would be nice to have the rear ones

Interesting, What year is yours? Model?

Isn't it strange that the pic I posted from an ebay GL that's for sale, has rear lights? Those look like lights, right? I didn't think it was the lighting that had me fooled?

I'll have to check mine, now.

But... have you physically verified if they are actually there? Maybe just burnt out bulbs (but strange that it would be both). Possibly fuse?

Was this an option? If so, that would quite easily explain it.

I looked under mine, and there are no lights... 2012, last year of the x164. Wondering if 550 has them?

i have verified it is not there....unless its hidden very well...can anyone verify on their X164 that has it?

Edit, from a 2010 GL option list details, it say's:

"Full Leather Package: GL350 BlueTEC/GL450: $1,900 – GL550: Standard
Ambient Lighting
Confort Headrests
Premium Interior Lighting
Leather Upholstery"

Now, I'm not sure on this, but maybe models with REAL LEATHER, might get the rear footwells?

So, the info I provided in my last post was from 2010, but it seems, if you have REAL LEATHER option, the footwells are standard? as well as ambient lighting on the dash, under glove box and on all doors, like the S class.

Our '14 ML350 with ventilated leather front seats has rear footwell lighting.
