New GL450 owner check in.
hi everyone.
I am so happy that I bought my first MB GL450, although it is a used 2011. I am actually a big DIYer. I used to have a BMW 328i, and I handle all the repair works myself outside the engine, and I just LOVE doing it.
Now my first question with this GL450 is that how to jack up this car in case any repair job needs to be done. I have a Powerzone 3-ton garage jack, four craftsman 2-ton jack stands. Are these good enough to lift up this monster car? (This car is literally twice as heavy as my old BMW 328i.)
Beneath the car, there are four jack points for the jack stands, two of them behind the front wheels, and two of them in front of the rear wheels. But my question is that where I should put the garage jack to lift up the car so that I can put the jack stands underneath. If you have some picture in detail or some threads to show me. That would be even better.
Again, very glad to join this forum.
Thank you very much.

Congratulations on your ride. And Welcome to this forum.
You can use body frame to jack up the car. Additionally, a small firm wood piece can be used to keep jack's points from hurting the frame. Once you raise it up, use factory jack points to put jack stands and remove the main jack. In front, the point where control arms connect to body could be a good frame point to jack it up while you put jack stands.

Thank you very much.
Do you have any picture to show me where exactly on body frame that I can jack up the car? also where is the control arms connecting to the body? I think I know where it is, just want to confirm.
A picture would be much better.
thank you so much again.
